Countervalue 01:14
I’m waiting for a day of sirens Of evil men with holes to hide in A jet black sky, the sunlight frightened By eerie, hissing, braindead violence A mass of all the lives we'll have to lose Won’t even have a fucking chance to move Their tvs screaming, their house on fire I hope to have a moment saved to take stock of the life I’ve made and if it’s really all going to end I’m thankful that you were my best friend
2.
Blue Jaunte 01:16
You need to have this lock and key to find your way from there to me A destination, context too so timespace still keeps track of you It wouldn’t take too much to crush your skeleton into the dust Your organs, eyeballs, conscience, you erase them all when left to blue But if your gully isn’t foiled Thy burning man forever oiled A nomad on the dim horizon who proved that one man was an island
3.
Spinning inside a freezing maelstrom Witches laugh on creation's broom The last one wavered, the last one's dead The doctor put a gun up, right up to its head But out of black magic there beats a heart and history remembers when it had its part A vile, sucking cycle of blood A second chance exhumed from the mud The creature's stirring, it's but a child and soon will have revenge on the wild For life from which it was made bereft Swift retribution, there's nothing left
4.
Gashodokuro 01:52
Deep into the nightmare’s fog a giant shadow defying the gods Moving slowly nearer still His only appetite to kill A gnashing, crashing, tower of bones Who lives to decimate your home and in practicing his quest he roams at midnight right into your nest Your city is like a slab of food, your spraying blood his gratitude An evil ringing in your ear The ending that you’ve always feared, it's coming back Famine and sickness, murder, war, calcium cracks! Famine and sickness, murder, war, it's all come right to your door

A fallen angel fallen on hard times Matthew Mara sings with stridulation Diseases kept at bay with lemons and limes Just a street rat without vocation And hips and nips won’t save you now Their teeth are inching nearer They’re sniffing at the scar on your neck Even curs get Jesus fever Once a man of the cloth Master plan which you scoff as shit now hits the fan Your wounds are on your left I pray you make this right You say that you have sinned It’s not yet darkest night Your ears are spiteful, deaf to god and his pale light Your faith has lost its sight
7.
My hand is a spider You brush it off the same Eight limbs pull themselves tighter and crack over the flame My hand is a spider You flush me down the drain Now down here in the sewer there’s never any rain to wash me from the spout so I can climb back up again My hand is a spider whose venom failed to maim My hand is a spider I dare you speak its name: ARACHNID
8.
The man approaches the gallows across the street from your seat He’s dejected, looking so hallow and you are just about to eat The waiter jots down your order as the crier speaks this man’s crimes The cook cracks open an egg and hides the sound of a snap His feet shake after his legs as you’re daydreaming of naps The crowd disperses uncaring as you are mopping up your plate But all is settling nicely You’re moving like a tortoise His body’s still looking sprightly despite the rigor mortis
9.
There’s an angry scorpion under my hat who sure likes the dark but hates being trapped and my belly sloshes white with boiling water as the nails in my feet drive a little bit farther Every morning I wake and I brush ‘em with lead ‘til my gums start to bleed from the force and when night comes around and I climb into bed I’m kicked in the head by a horse
10.
On the last night in Texas the entire desert died All the bones started walking Crows fell from the sky Their limp wings pointed upwards as the dogs trembled with mange and the wind screamed all around “No more homes on the range.” On the last night in Texas there was nowhere left to hide Death was on the porch and knocking from his scythe he hung your spine On the last night… On the last night in Texas the earth let out a sigh and its breath would leave a trace on the tombstone of the sky On the last night in Texas the wells finally ran dry and you held your burning face as the dust took your eyes And the mountains laid bleeding as it all closed its eyes And the ocean died gasping as we saw through our demise

about

Ten Songs is a discography retrospective which compiles the two An Inkling extended plays CUT ME OPEN and FROLLO, released in August of 2017 and January of 2018 respectively.

"CUT ME OPEN was written and recorded in July 2017. It's about being born at the end of the world, finding yourself in space and time, and accepting that being broken is not a death sentence.

FROLLO was written and recorded in the winter of 2017. It's a police line-up of monsters, bastards, anxieties, and self-infliction.

There are plenty who regard a wall behind which something is happening as a very curious thing."

A reflection.
Rippling, sparkling,
Shifting and liquid.
Distortion, true.
